Default values fill in a reasonable value when a topic wasn't discussed during the visit. They are typically set to normal findings or common outcomes, so your note stays complete and compliant.
How Defaults Behave
- If the transcript doesn't mention the topic, the default value appears automatically
- You can always change the default directly in the generated note
- Defaults are highlighted in blue in the note to make them easy to spot and adjust during review
Typical Uses
- Vitals or routine findings when not recorded
- Standard counseling or post‑op guidance that applies unless contradicted
- Common hygiene or exam outcomes
Example
- Field: Anesthesia complications
- Default: None observed
- Result when not discussed: "None observed" appears and is highlighted in blue for quick review
Set a default value for an AI field to auto‑fill when the topic isn't mentioned in the transcript. If a field has no default, Scribe uses the global Default Empty Response, for example, "N/D." You can change that global text in Settings → Default Empty Response.
